ASTECHNIK/Offer/Multi-medium coolers

Multi-medium coolers

Combined coolers for simultaneous cooling of multiple media in a single, compact design. Water and intercooler, water and oil — all in one unit, mounted in a frame tailored to the machine’s requirements and operating conditions.

TECHNICAL APPLICATION

Precise cooling of machinery components

Turbocharged diesel engines

Engines requiring simultaneous cooling of engine coolant and charge air — the combined cooler replaces two separate units, simplifying installation and reducing the number of connections

Machinery with hydraulic and liquid systems

Machinery in which a hydraulic system operates alongside the engine cooling system — the multi-medium cooler allows both to be handled in a single compact unit mounted directly on the machine

Applications with limited installation space

When the space on the machine does not allow for the installation of several separate coolers — a combined unit with a tailored support frame solves the dimensions problem without compromising cooling efficiency

WHY ASTECHNIK?

Standard combined coolers are often designed as a monolithic whole

When one element fails, the replacement applies to the entire unit. At ASTECHNIK, we design multi-media coolers with interchangeability in mind: each module is mounted in the frame in a way that allows for its quick replacement without the need to disassemble the others. The frame can be lightweight — when weight and space are critical, or solidly encased — when the machine operates in harsh conditions and requires additional mechanical protection.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A multi-media cooler is a single, combined structure mounted in a common frame — all cooling modules form a single unit installed on the machine. A modular cooler is a broader concept focused on combining different technologies and materials. In practice, both concepts can complement each other — a multi-media cooler can simultaneously be made of different materials for different modules.
The frame design is engineered to allow the replacement of a damaged module without the need to disassemble the entire cooler. This reduces downtime and lowers repair costs — you only replace what actually requires replacement.
A lightweight frame is used where the unit's own weight and installation space are critical — for example, in mobile machinery. A heavy-duty, solidly encased frame provides additional mechanical protection for the modules and performs well in applications exposed to vibrations, impacts, or harsh environmental conditions. The selection of the frame is determined individually with the client.
The most common configurations are water with an intercooler, water with oil, or a combination of all three media. However, other combinations are possible — we design each unit to meet the specific requirements of the machine, without being limited to standard configurations.
Yes — based on the dimensions of the original or the technical documentation, we manufacture replacements. It is also possible to modify the configuration relative to the original if the requirements of the machine have changed or the original solution required improvement.
