Finned and ribbed coolers provide a large heat transfer surface area, but their complex geometry results in higher flow resistance, more difficult cleaning, and a greater number of areas susceptible to mechanical damage or corrosion. Monolithic tubes — bare, without ribs or fins — are free from these weaknesses. Flow remains unrestricted, cleaning is simple, and the entire structure is resistant to contamination and easy to inspect. That is why they are so widely used in industrial heat exchangers, where servicing must be fast and reliable.

Monolithic tubes are made entirely from a single material throughout their cross-section — hence the name. Bimetallic tubes consist of two layers of different metals. Monolithic tubes are structurally simpler and more cost-effective, while bimetallic tubes offer a combination of the properties of two materials — for example, the strength of steel with the improved thermal conductivity of the inner layer.
Bare tubes without ribs or fins offer significantly lower resistance on the air side compared to ribbed or finned tubes. Air flows freely between the tubes without turbulence generated by complex fin geometry — resulting in lower fan power requirements and quieter system operation.
This is one of the greatest advantages of this solution. Smooth tubes can be cleaned mechanically or with a water jet without the risk of damaging delicate elements. Inspection is quick and does not require specialized tools — resulting in shorter downtime during maintenance.
